Is Allora free?

In part. The Foundation and the first city, Turin, are free to play in full, with their practice rooms included. One payment of £19 unlocks the other eleven cities and the rest of the practice. There is no subscription.

Do I need to know any Italian already?

A little helps. Allora teaches grammar rather than vocabulary, so you will get the most from it once you know some everyday words. You do not need to be fluent. If you have the basics, you are ready to start.

How is it different from Duolingo?

Duolingo focuses on vocabulary. Allora teaches the grammar that turns those words into sentences. That is the step most learners get stuck on, and it is what Allora is built for.

What level will it take me to?

Allora covers A1 up to the early part of B2. That is enough to move from single words to holding a real conversation. It stops short of full fluency, and we are honest about that.

Do I need an account?

No. Allora works without an account, and your progress saves on your device. If it is ever wiped, or you switch devices, you can jump back to where you were.

Does it work on my phone?

Yes. Allora runs in any mobile browser, so there is nothing to install. You can add it to your home screen, where it behaves like a normal app.
